GREEN GOLD IN DANGER: Culprits celebrate ‘International Forest Day’ by setting hundreds of trees afire in Doda

JAMMU: On a day when entire Union Territory (UT) Jammu and
Kashmir remained abuzz with International Forest Day celebrations and
plantation drives, some unknown culprits, enemy of nature and forest set afire
hundreds of tall standing trees in Chiralla Range of district Doda.
Reports reaching told JK Monitor that the fires
started at around 4:00 pm in compartment Number 37, particularly at Lamhota
Dhaar of tehsil Headquarter Kahra of district Doda. The location of the fire is
nearby villages Goila and Kencha.
According to the reports last came in at around
8:15, the fire was not dossed and was spread in more area threatening more and
more trees in the surroundings.
Whosever is responsible, is real enemy of nature
and lush green forest, and such elements in the society are real and biggest
threat to the natural resources in an era when the entire world is talking
about climate change and its grave impact.
The forest department in collaboration of local
police and people shall form some intelligence sharing committees in the forest
areas to nab and book such anti nature elements and punish them with hardest
punishment so this can set an example for other intending to do such evil act
in future.
