JAMMU: On a day when entire Union Territory (UT) Jammu and Kashmir remained abuzz with International Forest Day celebrations and plantation drives, some unknown culprits, enemy of nature and forest set afire hundreds of tall standing trees in Chiralla Range of district Doda.

Reports reaching told JK Monitor that the fires started at around 4:00 pm in compartment Number 37, particularly at Lamhota Dhaar of tehsil Headquarter Kahra of district Doda. The location of the fire is nearby villages Goila and Kencha.

According to the reports last came in at around 8:15, the fire was not dossed and was spread in more area threatening more and more trees in the surroundings.

Whosever is responsible, is real enemy of nature and lush green forest, and such elements in the society are real and biggest threat to the natural resources in an era when the entire world is talking about climate change and its grave impact.

The forest department in collaboration of local police and people shall form some intelligence sharing committees in the forest areas to nab and book such anti nature elements and punish them with hardest punishment so this can set an example for other intending to do such evil act in future.
