Youth interactions promote secular character: Dy CM

Describing the youth as building blocks of Nation, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand made a strong plea to youth of the state to rise above caste, communal and regional considerations, and actively participate in state building activities.

The Deputy Chief Minister said this while inaugurating the National Integration camp organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Srinagar at Kheerbhawani, Ganderbal today. A large number of youth from different parts of the country are participating in the six -day long camp.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by MLA, Amirakadal, Mr. Naseer Sogami, MLC, Mr. Ali Mohd., Former Minister, Mr. Garu Ram, District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Mr. Iftikar Hussain Bari, Director, North Zone, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Mr. S.S.Kashyap and several functionaries of State Administration and Nehru Yuva Kendra.

Appreciating the activities undertaken by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mr. Tara Chand said that by organizing inter-state get-together in the valley, NYK is doing a commendable job; as such occasions threw a platform for one-to-one interaction between youth of different parts of the country, adding such interactions break the barriers of language, religions and culture, serving the bigger objective of strengthening secular character and harmonious living.

The Deputy Chief Minister while denouncing frequent hartals and bandhs, said that the State has already lost crucial twenty years and now is the time to discourage the trend of shutdowns to usher the state into a new era of progress and development. “Hartal politics is incurring huge economic losses to the state and its people”, he added.

Mr. Tara Chand described the youth as agents of change, saying younger generation of the State has proven their merit in all walks of life even at national and international levels and called for maintaining this momentum. He said, youth energy when channelized in right direction can work wonders towards socio-economic transformation of the state.

Addressing on the occasion, Mr. Sogami, said that such activities go a long way in promoting national integration, mutual brotherhood and understanding cultural diversity of India.

While presenting the vote of thanks Mr. Kashyap, gave a detailed resume of the activities of NYK, highlighting its role in promoting national development and respect for nation’s pluralist ethos among the youth.
